This week's Five Fandom Friday is all about 5 ways I'm going to take chances in 2016.
1) Travel further for events.
I absolutely love selling at events, and 2015 was the first year I really started taking them seriously. I went to over twenty shows, but they were all on the East Coast! Traveling for events adds a lot of risk (more expenses, more travel time, shipping costs), but I really want to hang out with fellow nerds in different parts of the country. So, I'm giving it a try. In March, I'll be driving out to C2E2 in Chicago with The Colorful Geek, and I'm planning to fly out to Vegas for Leviosa in July. Wish me luck!
2) Take more time off.
As I mentioned last week, 2015 was the year I got serious about running my business, which meant working a lot. There was a ton of brainstorming, figuring things out, trying everything, redoing things that failed, and spending every free second working to make the business better. This year, I'm trusting myself to spend time in the right ways and take more breaks. Plus, now that I'm addicted to comics, I need time off to read them all!
3) Give crowdfunding a try.
Our crew at Team Jordandené has some big ideas and crazy dreams, and we can't make them all happen on our own. I've been watching so many cool projects happen through crowdfunding, and this might be the year we give it a try!
4) Get personal with video.
I truly hate being on video. I honestly hate even taking selfies. But, I know there's so much cool stuff you can only do with video, and I'm not going to hold myself back anymore. Probably. We'll see. :)
5) Ask for what I want.
At the beginning of my business journey, I decided to go with the flow. I wanted to test things out, see what kinds of opportunities came our way, and go wherever the journey decided to take us. But, I think 2016 is the year to take more things into my own hands. I want to work with other cool brands, see our merch in more stores, and connect with even more customers. This is the year to make it happen!
